WE ARE PUBLISHED AUTHORS!!!!!!!!!

In October the class came up with a Halloween themed book. Each day the students added their own unique sentence to the story. We worked on capitalization, punctuation, spelling words, and having a beginning, middle, and end just as we do every day in Interactive Writing. The students really enjoy this process and it is always fun for me to hear their imaginations come out.

This also gives us time to review skills and lessons that we have been working on since day 1.

I had the opportunity to get a book published by Student Treasures. I selected this one because it was so much fun to write.

As first graders, all of the words aren’t spelled correctly and that is perfectly fine!! (It’s actually the cutest part of the book to me.)

We continued our process by cutting up a sentence, putting it back together, writing it in our best handwriting, and creating a matching illustration. It turned out so cute!!

Here is the finished project!! We are so excited to be authors and illustrators with a real book to put on the book shelf!!

We have been writing letters to Santa, creating reindeer and writing a Christmas Class Book. We have been working on “r controlled vowel” words as well. Ex.

In math, we have been continuing to work on combinations, adding, and subtraction.
