The Hustle and Bustle of Christmas Time

Hi everybody!  Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends.  It has been jam packed ever since with our kiddos.  I am going to try to update you on the next 2 weeks because I know how crazy fast it goes by and I don’t want to forget anything (although I know I will).christmas_monsters_card_preview

First of all our Christmas party will be Friday the 18th at 9:00.  Set up can begin at 8:30.  Stacie Hawley has so graciously taken on the task of planning and organizing this party.  I meant to get her y’all’s information last week but it completely slipped my mind! If you want to help please give her a call (832)235-3175 or contact me and I will put you in touch with her.  Thank you Stacie!!!!

December the 17th and 18th will be early release at 11:00.

Spelling words:  which, their, said, if, do, will, each, about, how, up  There will be a spelling test NEXT Tuesday.

Phonics:  We have been very busy with phonics learning the three sounds of “ed”.  We will learn this week and next about the “r” controlled vowels.  These kiddos are blowing me away with their reading and writing.  I am so proud of them!

Math:  We are learning how to collect data and represent the data we have collected using graphs and number sentences.  They are learning how to compare how many more and how many less than on top of problem solving using addition and subtraction.  I have been tutoring those who need it over the last week and will continue this week before we take our 9 week benchmark.

Science/Social Studies:  We learned all about nocturnal animals and their habitats.  We also learned about Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims and Indians.  This week we will begin our study on reindeer, myths and facts.  I will be adding several items to our science/research center over the Christmas break that should be a huge hit!

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.  I am loving our Firsties!!!

Please be free to contact me anytime!! Thanks for all the you do! The ornaments look GREAT!! 🙂
