Week of January 27th

Hello!!! This year is really flying by and I haven’t been keeping up with my blog as often as I would like. I will try to get back into the routine.

First, I would like to thank all the parents that made the Christmas party a success! The kiddos had a great time and I know they got enough sugar to last them a lifetime 🙂 I am very blessed to have your kids in my class and to have you all behind them supporting, motivating, and teaching them. They are all great kids thanks to you!

This week in math we will be collecting and observing data. We will be continuing taking and analyzing surveys to create a graph to represent our data at the end of the week.

In reading and phonics we will be focusing on antonyms and continuing to read at home. We will be discussing characters, setting, problems, and solutions in daily reading and our books we bring home.

We will begin a class story about penguins. Perhaps you already know that we have been reading, researching, measuring, and learning about different kinds of penguins and Antarctica since last week. We will continue our penguin study this week as well.

Students will begin writing friendly letters to anyone in the Primary school that they would like. They will be taught to address a letter and will continue to use the letter format that they have learned about.

Spelling Words: Please continue to work with the list of 100 “no excuse words”

  • into
  • has
  • more
  • her
  • two

Library Day is Monday so your child will have the opportunity to pick out a book for the week.

Wednesday is early release at 11:30 for staff development.

Friday is the 100th Day of School and we will be doing fun and interactive lessons and activities throughout the day to celebrate being 100 Days Smarter!! I have sent a note home describing the 100 items mystery bag. Please look for the note in your child’s take home folder and send the items no later than January 31st.

Thank you and have an AMAZING week!
